350TW LASER

The 350TW laser system is designed to generate an extremely high and unprecedented peak power of 350 TW (Terawatt) in pulses with duration of 30 fs.

The Alpha 5XS 350TW laser system is made of the following sub-systems:
· The oscillator produces the ultra-short pulses at a nJ level at high repetition rate.
· The pulse is amplified in a first Chirped Pulse Amplifier (CPA 1) which includes a stretcher, a regenerative amplifier pumped by part of a 10Hz CFR laser and a compressor. This stage amplifies the pulse from the nJ level up to hundreds of μJ with excellent beam profile, beam pointing and energy stability.
· The XPW filter drastically improves the contrast ratio and enlarges the spectral bandwidth of the pulse.
· The pulse is then amplified at lower repetition rate in a second Chirped Pulse Amplifier (CPA2), which includes a stretcher and several multi-pass amplifiers pumped by the leftover of the CFR, 3 SAGA and 2 GAIA HP lasers. The pulse energy is increased with minimal change in the beam characteristics in terms of contrast ratio and pulse duration. A DAZZLER Acousto-Optic Programmable Dispersive Filter (AOPDF) allows dynamic spectral phase correction.
· The pulse is compressed in a COMPRESSOR.
