SCAPA Collaborations and Partnerships

The Scottish Centre for the Application of Plasma-based Accelerators (SCAPA) brings together research groups from across Scotland, fostering collaboration between the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) community and partners from other disciplines and institutions.

This multidisciplinary network combines expertise in laser-plasma physics, accelerator science, nuclear physics, biomedical science and engineering. Through these collaborations, SCAPA supports research into laser-driven particle acceleration and radiation sources, while exploring their applications in fundamental science, healthcare, materials research and industry.

SCAPA’s collaborators include research groups and academic partners from the following institutions:
University of Strathclyde
SILIS Group
Dr Marie Boyd, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences
Dr Joanna Renshaw, Civil and Environmental Engineering

University of the West of Scotland
Nuclear Physics Group

University of Glasgow
Nuclear Physics Group

University of Edinburgh
Nuclear Physics Group

By connecting complementary expertise and research capabilities, these partnerships help advance laser-plasma accelerator technology and broaden its impact across scientific and applied research.
